Commitments

                 Creation of the Foundation

Created in June 2020, the setec Foundation, under the auspices of the Fondation de France, is committed to supporting projects that contribute concretely to the environmental transition in the fight against climate change, the preservation of biodiversity and the protection of aquatic environments.

Aware of the major social and societal challenges associated with the environmental transition, it makes the fight against poverty (precariousness, energy autonomy, food, access to education and healthcare, etc.) an essential corollary of its action.

Similarly, it accompanies cultural actions of social questioning on these themes. Integration, training, education, the setec Foundation is sensitive to the social vocation of projects.

Provide financial support for projects of general interest

The setec Foundation is sheltered by the Fondation de France. In this context, it has committed to an initial endowment of 200,000 euros over 5 years (2020-2024).

This sum is supplemented every year by voluntary contributions from subsidiaries of the setec group and donations from individuals. Its endowment in 2023 will reach 417,000 euros.

Since its creation, the setec Foundation has donated 741 650 euros to 32 projects in 12 countries on 4 continents. The 32 projects include 12 renewals, demonstrating the setec Foundation’s long-term commitment to these structures.

Missions

A local action for structures of general interest

The structures supported are of general interest and not-for-profit (associations, NGOs, cooperatives, social enterprises etc.).

In addition to the funding offered by the setec Foundation, projects can benefit from the involvement of employees of the setec group via the sponsorship of skills of its subsidiaries. To do this, it encourages projects located near the subsidiaries’ sites.

An annual theme of intervention

In order to strengthen the impact of its action, the setec Foundation has chosen to focus on one theme per year among the five areas of intervention in which it is committed to intervene between 2020 and 2024 (see “commitments”).

Measurables impacts

In addition to the financial leverage effect on the projects it supports, the setec Foundation  measured the social, societal and environmental impact of its action.

This study has shown that the setec Foundation belongs to a generation of foundations that are human and attentive to their beneficiaries.

Organization

Gouvernance of the setec Foundation

The governance of the setec Foundation is made up of an Executive Committee, composed of 6 people.

Anne-Marie Choho, Managing Director of the setec Group, is President of the setec Foundation.

Three other committee members are from the setec Group or its subsidiaries:

Valérie Bernhardt (setec terrasol),

Stéphane Bicocchi (setec énergie environnement),

Jean-Bernard Datry (setec TPI).

Two outside personalities complete the committee: Eric Philippon, Chairman of FAMAE (an independent family foundation that finances projects to reduce the environmental footprint in all areas of the circular economy), and Bernard Idrac, member of the Board of Directors of the Fondation Terre Solidaire.

setec Foundation operational team

Projects

The setec Foundation has several funding levers to support structures in setting up and monitoring projects:

  • The annual campaigns, organised around a theme and/or a geographical area, with a projected endowment of €200,000 in 2024.
  • The Transition Fund, which finances projects co-opted by the setec Group’s employees, with a projected endowment of €50,000 in 2024.
  • The renewal of partnerships, in order to ensure the sustainability of the projects supported, with a projected endowment of €40,000 in 2024.
  • The emergency fund, set up exceptionally to support associations following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, which collected €62,000 in 2022. It was renewed in 2023 for the terrible earthquakes in Turkey – Syria and Morocco.
